Gewurztraminer 2022

Our 2015 Gewurztraminer was sourced from two sites within the Elkton Oregon AVA, both planted in 1983, Bradley Vineyard and Anindor Vineyard. The Bradley vineyard is located only one mile east of our winery and has been planted on a west facing bench at 300′ elevation. Both vineyards have similar soils born of alluvial Umpqua River deposits. Our growing season in Elkton is long and temperate with typically little rainfall between April and October. 2014 was the warmest year seen to date in Elkton, in Oregon for that matter. There were some late season heat spikes especially in September.
This wine is a beautiful pale golden straw color. The fruit aromas are dominated by savory lemon curd and grapefruit with spicy cardamom and honeysuckle rising up as interesting sub plots. Characteristic lychee begins to appear with airing. The citrus fruits and spice notes dominate the taste with a pleasant touch of honeyed sweetness in the fore palate. The sweet impression fades as the wines tart acidity makes itself known, finishing rather dry, with a full and lasting mouthfeel. This wine is great for sipping by itself on a summer afternoon, or anywhere you find a warm spot out of doors any season. Production: 937 cases, 14.1% ABV, Total Acidity 7.2 g/L, pH: 3.21, Residual Sugar: 2.4%. 90 pts Wine Enthusiast.
