Château Lamothe de Haux
Lamothe 1er Cuvee Cotes de Bordeaux Rouge 2014
(distributed by Polaner in NY and NJ).
Produced in 45.000 bottles, usually this blend is dominated by Merlot (60%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Cab Franc (only 10%). Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months in underground cellars (30% new barrels and 70% used for 1 or 2 previous vintages) in order to obtain a good balance between the wine’s powerful, full-bodied side and the understated oak that contributes to a round, smooth aftertaste. This wine is enjoyable with grilled meat like beef or duck and soft-ripened cheeses. The ageing potential varies depending on the vintage, usually from 8 to 10 years, but pleasant to drink after 4 years.
