Château Lamothe de Haux
Lamothe Cuvée Traditionnelle Bordeaux Blanc 2015
(distributed by Polaner in NY and NJ).
In the last twelve years Lamothe white Bordeuax has been considered by wine critics and lovers in USA the benchmark white blend from this region. Produced roughly in 250.000 bottles yearly, this cuvee includes all the three local varieties admitted by wine regulations: Sauvignon Blanc (40%), Sémillon (40%) and the super demanding to grow Muscadelle (20%). This particular blend, which goes back centuries, has become rather rare in recent years. Winemaking is pretty traditional with skin contact (50%) and cold fermentation at 16/18°C. The wine is aged on the lees for about 3 weeks, which accounts for its round, smooth, and remarkably fruity flavour. It is ideal as an aperitif, or with fish, seafood (a must with mussels), and cheese. It’s not a wine meant for cellar ageing so just open your bottle and enjoy it fresh young (2 to 3 years from the vintage).
